About the role

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Lead Software Engineer – Athena to work on our Risk platform and Aggregation system. You will design, develop, and integrate sophisticated solutions that support trading desks and back‑office functions across rates products, enabling critical risk management and profit & loss analysis.

Key responsibilities

  • Build and maintain robust software solutions supporting rates trading activities.
  • Collaborate closely with quantitative analysts, traders, risk managers, product managers, and other technology teams.
  • Develop scalable, high‑performance Python code to process large volumes of market data and perform complex financial calculations.
  • Implement risk metrics, P&L attribution frameworks, and data pipelines connecting trading systems to downstream consumers.
  • Participate in architectural decisions, code reviews, and technical design sessions to shape platform evolution across Rates and Equities.
  • Gather requirements from business users and translate business needs into technical solutions, communicating technical constraints in business terms.
  • Maintain and enhance existing and legacy applications when required.

Required profile

  • Minimum 10 years of hands‑on Python development experience.
  • Financial services background preferred.
  • Strong understanding of software engineering principles, including object‑oriented design, testing methodologies, and version control.
  • Proven ability to write clean, maintainable code within large, complex codebases.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for both technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Experience gathering requirements and collaborating across multiple teams and functions.
  • Ability to translate business needs into technical solutions and explain constraints in business terms.
  • Willingness to work on legacy applications when needed.
