Lead Teacher – Alternative Provision (SEMH/SEND)

About the role

We are seeking a Lead Teacher for an innovative Alternative Provision in Rochdale, supporting pupils aged 11‑16 with SEMH and SEND needs. The role combines senior leadership with hands‑on teaching to drive high‑quality, trauma‑informed education.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and support delivery of high‑quality teaching and learning across the provision.
• Develop and implement strategic SEND and SEMH provision.
• Build positive, trauma‑informed relationships with pupils.
• Oversee behaviour support strategies and personalised interventions.
• Coach and develop staff in inclusive classroom practice.
• Monitor pupil progress, attendance, engagement and reintegration outcomes.
• Collaborate with families, local authorities, schools and external professionals.
• Develop vocational, outdoor learning and alternative curriculum pathways.
• Contribute to safeguarding, pastoral care and multi‑agency planning.

Required profile

• Qualified teacher with extensive experience in SEND and SEMH.
• Proven senior leadership or middle‑leadership experience.
• Resilient, nurturing and highly motivated to improve outcomes for vulnerable learners.
• Strong communication and partnership‑working skills.
