Lead Veterinary Surgeon

About the role

We are seeking an experienced veterinary surgeon with a passion for both people and pets to lead our team of vets in Telford. You will embed Animal Trust values, foster a caring environment, and work closely with the Practice Manager and Lead Nurse to ensure high standards of clinical care.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, coach and mentor a team of veterinary surgeons to maintain excellent clinical standards.
• Collaborate with the Practice Manager and Lead Nurse on day‑to‑day clinic operations.
• Evaluate clinic KPIs and profit & loss statements to drive optimal performance.
• Participate in staff meetings, clinical governance meetings and performance management.

Required profile

• Strong clinical expertise with a desire to coach and mentor colleagues.
• Exceptional communication skills with clients and the veterinary team.
• Hold or be willing to obtain a VetGDP qualification.
• Experience conducting 1‑2‑1 meetings and performance management.
• Confidence leading staff and clinical governance meetings.
