Learning Behaviour Mentor – KS3 Alternative Provision

About the role

We are seeking a Learning Behaviour Mentor to join our KS3 team at an alternative provision school in Brixton. The role focuses on supporting pupils with EHCPs, SEMH, ASD, ACES and SEND needs, using a therapeutic approach to help them engage with learning and socialise effectively.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group support to students (years 7‑9) to improve motivation and learning outcomes.
• Implement behaviour management strategies and promote independence.
• Collaborate with a multi‑professional team to deliver holistic support, including psychotherapy and speech therapy.
• Assist pupils in activities that prepare them for reintegration into mainstream education.
• Maintain accurate records of student progress and interventions.

Required profile

• Passion for working with young people who struggle in mainstream settings.
• Experience in alternative provision or secondary education is desirable.
• Calm, patient and engaging classroom manner.
• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to obtain a DBS check.

Required skills

• Behaviour management techniques.
• Understanding of SEMH, ASD, ACES and SEND frameworks.
