Learning Coach – Support Students with SEN

About the role

Reed Further Education is seeking a compassionate Learning Coach to work with learners aged 16‑24 who have additional needs, including social, emotional and special educational needs (SEN). The role focuses on delivering personalised support that helps students achieve their academic and personal goals while preparing them for employment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one and group tutoring for learners with SEN, following individual Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
• Implement tailored strategies from EHCPs, monitor progress and adjust support as needed.
• Assist with classroom management to maintain a safe, inclusive learning environment.
• Liaise with local authorities to identify eligible young people for work placements.
• Build relationships with local employers, secure work experience opportunities and match learners to suitable roles.

Required profile

• Functional Skills Level 2 in English, Maths and ICT (or equivalent).
• Experience working with young adults who have additional needs, especially SEMH challenges.
• Knowledge of EHCP processes and ability to support learners with such plans.
• Strong interpersonal skills to engage learners and employers.
• Full UK driving licence is desirable for local travel.
