Learning & Development Manager

About the role

The Learning & Development Manager will play a highly visible role influencing leadership, culture and workforce capability across a predominantly blue‑collar organisation. Working closely with senior stakeholders and operational leaders, you will modernise learning, strengthen leadership capability and drive meaningful organisational change.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver leadership and management capability programmes.
• Refresh performance and development frameworks.
• Build technical and behavioural competency pathways.
• Support apprenticeship and early‑career initiatives.
• Drive engagement and cultural improvement activities.
• Embed modern learning approaches and oversee new HR and LMS system implementation.
• Shape the L&D function with autonomy, focusing on skills retention and future workforce planning.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience in an industrial, manufacturing, engineering or operational environment.
• Proven track record as a Learning & Development Manager in a commercially driven organisation.
• Resilient, credible and confident to challenge and influence at all levels.
• Strong stakeholder‑management skills across operational and leadership groups.
• Experience working with blue‑collar workforces; public‑sector or heavily corporate settings are not a fit.
