Learning Mentor – Full‑Time, Long‑Term Contract in Plymouth

About the role

We are seeking a compassionate Learning Mentor to support young people who have struggled within mainstream education. Based in Plymouth, you will work across primary and secondary settings, using community‑based activities to rebuild confidence and re‑engage pupils with learning.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement personalised re‑engagement plans for disengaged students.
• Organise and lead educational visits and real‑world learning experiences across Plymouth.
• Collaborate with parents, carers, social workers and local agencies to deliver holistic pastoral support.
• Provide targeted interventions for pupils in primary or secondary phases, according to your experience.

Required profile

• Full UK driving licence and reliable vehicle.
• GCSE grade C/4 or above in Maths and English (or equivalent).
• Availability for a full‑time, long‑term contract.
• Excellent communication, patience, empathy and strong behaviour‑management abilities.
• Previous experience with SEMH, SEN or vulnerable youth is advantageous.
