Learning Mentor

About the role

We are seeking enthusiastic Learning Mentors to support pupils in a Barking primary school. You will help students overcome personal and academic challenges, fostering emotional well‑being and confidence.

Key responsibilities

• Mentor and guide students in their behavioural development.
• Assist SEN pupils in setting and achieving personal and educational targets.
• Engage with a variety of learning activities and programmes.
• Implement strategies to manage and de‑escalate challenging behaviours.
• Act as a positive role model to build confidence and self‑esteem.
• Collaborate with teachers, parents and other mentors to create a comprehensive support network.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a Behaviour or Learning Mentor is preferred.
• Experience in SEN, challenging behaviour, coaching or youth work is highly desirable.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.
• Empathetic, patient and resilient nature.
