Learning Mentor

About the role

The Learning Mentor will work within a supportive secondary school in London, providing one‑to‑one and small‑group guidance to students who need additional academic, pastoral and emotional support. This role aims to improve student engagement, attendance, confidence and overall attainment.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver personalised mentoring sessions to pupils requiring extra help.
• Build trusting relationships that encourage active participation in learning.
• Assist students with academic, social, emotional and behavioural challenges.
• Develop learners' confidence, resilience, organisational and study skills.
• Collaborate with teachers, pastoral teams and parents to monitor progress and adjust support plans.
• Record outcomes and contribute to intervention strategies.
• Support pupils during transition periods and help remove barriers to education.

Required profile

• Experience working with young people in an educational, mentoring or support setting.
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building abilities.
• Patient, empathetic and supportive approach.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to motivate students.
• Genuine passion for helping young people achieve positive outcomes.
