Learning Mentor – Primary School (Birmingham)

About the role

We are seeking a caring and enthusiastic Learning Mentor to support primary‑school pupils in Birmingham. The role involves providing one‑to‑one and small‑group mentoring to help children overcome learning barriers and build confidence.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver one‑to‑one and small‑group mentoring sessions.
• Support pupils with social, emotional, behavioural and learning needs.
• Build positive relationships that encourage confidence, resilience and engagement.
• Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, pastoral staff and parents to monitor pupil progress.
• Promote positive behaviour and contribute to a safe, inclusive learning environment.

Required profile

• Experience working with children in a primary‑school, childcare, youth work or mentoring setting.
• Calm, patient and nurturing approach.
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.
• Genuine passion for supporting children’s wellbeing and development.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
