Learning Mentor – Support Students with SEN

About the role

We are seeking an enthusiastic Learning Mentor to join an outstanding Special Educational Needs (SEN) school in Birkenhead, Wirral. In this role you will provide one‑to‑one support to students with diverse learning, behavioural and emotional needs, helping them achieve their full potential.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver personalised one‑to‑one support to students with SEN, including learning difficulties, behavioural challenges and emotional needs.
• Develop, implement and regularly review individual learning plans tailored to each student’s requirements.
• Collaborate closely with teachers, SEN consultants and other professionals to create a cohesive, supportive learning environment.
• Monitor student progress, assess the effectiveness of interventions and adjust strategies as needed.
• Assist students in building essential life skills, confidence and self‑esteem.
• Promote an inclusive school culture through positive interactions with students, parents and staff.

Required profile

• Experience working with students who have SEN, preferably within a school setting.
• Strong knowledge of various SEN conditions and evidence‑based support strategies.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to build relationships with students, families and colleagues.
• Adaptability, resilience and strong organisational skills to manage multiple individual plans.
• Genuine passion for making a positive impact on the lives of young learners.
