Learning Support Assistant (1:1) – Barking

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated 1:1 Learning Support Assistant to work in an Ofsted Good secondary school in Barking and Dagenham, East London. You will support pupils with moderate to mild special educational needs (SEN) such as ADHD, autism, dyslexia, and occasional behavioural challenges. The role is full‑time, on‑site and offers a varied mix of individual and group support.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group assistance to designated students, adapting activities to meet their specific needs.
• Support pupils with ADHD, autism, dyslexia and related behavioural difficulties.
• Collaborate with teachers and senior staff to implement personalised learning plans.
• Monitor progress and report observations to the teaching team.
• Maintain a safe, inclusive classroom environment.

Required profile

• Experience working as a teaching or learning support assistant, preferably in primary or secondary settings.
• Passion for supporting children with SEN and challenging behaviour.
• Reliable, punctual and committed to the role.
• Desirable: Bachelor’s degree and prior experience with a wide range of SEN.
