Learning Support Assistant (1:1) – Special Needs

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to work one‑to‑one with pupils who have moderate to mild special educational needs, including ADHD, autism and dyslexia, as well as behavioural challenges. The role is based in a Good‑rated secondary school in Hackney, East London, and runs full‑time from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Key responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small‑group support to designated students, adapting activities to meet individual needs.
• Assist the classroom teacher in managing behaviour and implementing personalised learning plans.
• Monitor progress, record observations and communicate effectively with staff and families.
• Help create an inclusive, safe and supportive learning environment.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a teaching or learning support assistant, preferably in primary or secondary settings.
• Demonstrated passion for working with children with special educational needs.
• Reliable, punctual and committed to the role.
• Bachelor’s degree is desirable but not essential.
