Learning Support Assistant – 1:1 Support for SEN Students

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to provide 1:1 and group support for pupils with moderate to mild special educational needs (SEN) such as ADHD, autism and dyslexia. The role is based in a Good Ofsted‑rated secondary school in Redbridge, East London, and offers a full‑time, contract‑based position.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver personalised assistance to designated students, adapting strategies to individual needs.
• Support classroom teachers with lesson preparation, resource adaptation and behaviour management.
• Monitor and record pupil progress, providing feedback to the teaching team.
• Facilitate small‑group activities that reinforce learning objectives.
• Collaborate with senior staff to develop and implement behaviour support plans.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a teaching or learning support assistant, preferably in primary or secondary settings.
• A genuine passion for supporting children with special educational needs.
• Reliable, punctual and committed to the school’s ethos.
• A bachelor's degree is desirable but not essential.

Required skills

• No specific technical skills required; focus is on interpersonal support and classroom assistance.
