Learning Support Assistant – Active Department

About the role

The Learning Support Assistant will join the Active Department at Berkshire College of Agriculture, working 37 hours per week across the term‑time period. Reporting to the Head of Department, you will help students of all abilities access the curriculum and achieve their learning goals.

Key responsibilities

• Support whole classes, small groups or individual learners in line with college policies and EHCPs.
• Assist with planning, delivering and evaluating learning activities.
• Help students overcome physical, emotional or learning barriers.
• Provide support for assignments, exam preparation and development of English, maths and ICT skills.
• Monitor student behaviour, keep confidential records and adapt learning materials.
• Use specialist equipment and, when required, provide physical assistance to mobility‑impaired students.

Required profile

• Positive attitude and experience working with young adults, preferably in an educational setting.
• Flexibility to work across departments or remotely when needed.
• Level 2 qualifications (GCSE A‑C or equivalent) in English and Mathematics.
• Experience or relevant qualifications supporting learners with Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia or Dyspraxia.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to meet the physical demands of the role.
