Learning Support Assistant for ASD Students (Term‑time)

About the role

Join a specialist school in rural West Sussex as a Learning Support Assistant, helping students aged 11‑19 with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) thrive in a calm, structured environment. This term‑time only position offers a supportive team and a daily rate of £120.

Key responsibilities

• Support students during lessons to ensure access to learning and sustained engagement.
• Encourage independence, emotional regulation, and positive social interaction.
• Assist teachers with lesson delivery in small‑group and one‑to‑one settings.
• Maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom atmosphere.
• Collaborate closely with teachers, therapists, and families to provide consistent support.
• Record progress accurately and contribute to individual learning plans.

Required profile

• Experience working with children or young people, preferably with ASD or other special educational needs.
• Knowledge of the National Curriculum and its adaptation for additional needs.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Flexibility and creativity in meeting individual student requirements.
• Commitment to safeguarding and ongoing professional development.
• GCSEs in English and Maths (Grade A‑C or equivalent).
• Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching & Learning or willingness to train.
