Learning Support Assistant for SEND Hub

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Learning Support Assistant to join our vibrant primary school in Charlton, Greenwich. You will work within a purpose‑built SEND hub, supporting 4‑5 Key Stage 1 pupils with high needs, many of whom are non‑verbal and display challenging behaviour.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group support to pupils in the hub.
• Implement the sensory curriculum focusing on basic communication and development.
• Use PECS and Makaton to facilitate communication.
• Assist with behaviour management and promote positive learning experiences.
• Collaborate with the SENCO, hub teacher and leadership team on planning and assessment.

Required profile

• Previous experience supporting children with SEND.
• Experience working in a primary school setting.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Dedicated, proactive attitude.

Required skills

• PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System).
• Makaton sign language.
