Learning Support Assistant – Hackney (East London)

About the role

Prospero Teaching is seeking a Learning Support Assistant to join a well‑regarded secondary school in Hackney, East London. This full‑time position starts in September 2026 and offers the chance to work closely with students who have special educational needs and behavioural challenges.

Key responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small‑group support for pupils with ADHD, autism, dyslexia and behavioural needs.
• Deliver targeted interventions to help students engage with lessons.
• Collaborate with teaching staff to adapt learning activities and monitor progress.
• Promote positive behaviour and encourage student participation.
• Build strong, supportive relationships with both students and colleagues.

Required profile

• Experience working with children or young people with SEN (desirable).
• Background as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar support role (desirable).
• Bachelor’s degree (desirable).
• Passion for education and supporting young people.
• Reliability, punctuality and commitment to the role.

Required skills

• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to adapt support strategies to individual needs.
• Understanding of SEN frameworks and behavioural management techniques.
