Learning Support Assistant – Hackney Secondary School (Sept start)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Learning Support Assistant to join a mainstream secondary school in Hackney, East London, starting in September. The role involves providing one‑to‑one and classroom support for students aged 11‑16 with a range of SEND needs.

Key responsibilities

• Assist SEND students in mainstream lessons and during individual sessions.
• Promote general wellbeing and personal development of pupils.
• Collaborate closely with the SENCO and the wider learning support team.
• Support classroom teachers with adaptations and differentiated activities.
• Maintain accurate records of student progress and interventions.

Required profile

• Level 2 (or higher) qualification in a relevant support‑related area.
• Previous experience in a mainstream or SEN setting, working with ASD, ADHD or SEMH students.
• Positive, energetic attitude and ability to work well within a team.

Required skills

• Understanding of SEND legislation and best practices.
• Ability to implement individual education plans.
• Strong communication skills with pupils, staff and parents.
