Learning Support Assistant – Inclusive Schools

About the role

This temporary position supports inclusive schools in Sunderland by providing one‑to‑one and small‑group assistance to pupils. You will work closely with teachers to create a supportive learning environment where every child can thrive.

Key responsibilities

• Support pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
• Assist teachers with classroom activities and lesson delivery.
• Promote learning engagement, participation and positive behaviour.
• Encourage social development and wellbeing of pupils.
• Collaborate with teaching staff to monitor progress and wellbeing.

Required profile

• Experience working with children or young people.
• A caring and supportive nature.
• Strong communication skills.
• Willingness to learn, adapt and travel across Sunderland.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.

• Ability to work collaboratively with staff.
• Basic organisational and monitoring skills.
