Learning Support Assistant

About the role

We are seeking a motivated Learning Support Assistant to join a mainstream school in Manchester for a full academic year. This role is ideal for recent graduates in Psychology or a core subject who want to gain hands‑on experience supporting children, including those with SEND.

Key responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 personalised learning support for pupils with SEND across KS3‑KS4.
• Assist class teachers with lesson delivery and cover lessons when required.
• Lead or support small‑group interventions to reinforce learning.
• Promote positive behaviour and develop social‑emotional skills.
• Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs and other staff to create an inclusive environment.

Required profile

• UK degree in Psychology or a core subject.
• Genuine passion for working with children and supporting additional needs.
• Previous experience in a school, nursery, placement or voluntary role is desirable.
• Willingness to obtain a DBS check on the Update Service.
• Ability to provide references covering the last two years.
• Flexibility, adaptability and patience.
