Learning Support Assistant (Music Background Preferred)

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant with a passion for music to help pupils across schools in Bath and North East Somerset. This part‑time, temporary position allows you to use your musical experience to create engaging, inclusive learning experiences for young people.

Key responsibilities

• Support pupils during lessons, adapting learning to individual needs.
• Use creativity and musical understanding to motivate and engage students.
• Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group assistance, including for those with additional learning needs.
• Assist teachers in delivering inclusive, accessible lessons.
• Foster confidence, participation and positive behaviour through supportive relationships.
• Help maintain a calm, structured, and positive learning environment.

Required profile

• A background or strong interest in music (performance, study, or teaching experience is desirable).
• Patience, empathy and an encouraging approach.
• Good communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships.
• Willingness to support pupils with a range of learning needs.

Required skills

• Musical knowledge or experience (instrument playing, music theory, or music teaching).
