Learning Support Assistant – Primary School

About the role

We are seeking a Learning Support Assistant to join our primary school team in High Wycombe. Working closely with teachers, you will help create an inclusive environment where pupils from Reception to Year 6 can thrive. The role involves supporting small groups and individual learners across a range of subjects.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare classrooms and resources, including setting out equipment and organising materials.
• Assist teachers with lesson planning, resource preparation and the management of pupils during activities.
• Provide one‑to‑one or small‑group support in reading, writing, maths and creative tasks, using tools such as iPads.
• Supervise children during assemblies, playground time, lunchtime and on educational outings.
• Observe pupil progress, give feedback to teachers and raise any concerns about learning needs.

Required profile

• A caring, patient and positive approach to supporting children’s learning.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to the needs of all pupils; previous experience is welcome but not essential.
