Learning Support Assistant – Primary School (Tower Hamlets)

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join a vibrant primary school in Tower Hamlets, East London. The role involves supporting pupils across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, helping them engage with the mainstream curriculum while addressing additional learning needs.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group support during lessons for pupils with SEN.
• Deliver targeted intervention sessions to build confidence, independence and focus.
• Assist teachers in managing classroom behaviour and establishing positive learning routines.
• Collaborate closely with the SEN team to monitor progress and adapt support strategies.
• Support pupils in accessing learning materials and participating fully in classroom activities.

Required profile

• Experience working with children in a school or youth setting.
• Proactive, patient and adaptable attitude.
• Ability to build strong relationships with pupils and staff.
• Confidence in supporting the primary curriculum across KS1 and KS2.
• Genuine passion for supporting children’s development.

Required skills

• Knowledge of basic SEN strategies and interventions.
• Effective communication skills for interacting with teachers, pupils and parents.
