Learning Support Assistant – Primary Schools (Temporary)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Learning Support Assistant to work on a temporary, ongoing supply basis in primary schools across West Sussex. You will support teachers and pupils in a fast‑paced classroom environment, helping to reinforce learning and maintain a positive atmosphere.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the class teacher with daily classroom activities.
• Work with pupils one‑to‑one or in small groups to reinforce learning.
• Support behaviour management and promote a positive learning environment.
• Prepare learning materials and resources as directed.
• Provide individualised assistance to children with additional needs.
• Help with classroom organisation, displays and tidying.
• Supervise pupils during breaks, transitions and off‑site activities.
• Offer pastoral support and encourage positive social skills.
• Follow safeguarding procedures and school policies at all times.

Required profile

• Previous experience working in a school setting.
• DBS check on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
• Ability to adapt quickly in a busy primary environment.
• Proactive, patient and supportive approach when working with children.

Required skills

• No specific technical skills required.
