Learning Support Assistant – Primary Schools (West Sussex)

About the role

We are seeking experienced Learning Support Assistants to work across a network of primary schools in West Sussex. The role involves providing one‑to‑one and small‑group support to pupils, helping teachers deliver inclusive lessons, and ensuring a safe, positive learning environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the class teacher with daily classroom activities and lesson preparation.
• Work with pupils individually or in small groups to reinforce learning objectives.
• Support behaviour management and promote a positive classroom atmosphere.
• Prepare and organise learning materials and resources as directed.
• Provide pastoral care, encouraging social skills and wellbeing.
• Supervise pupils during breaks, transitions, and off‑site activities.
• Follow safeguarding procedures and uphold school policies at all times.

Required profile

• Previous experience working in a school setting.
• Current DBS check on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
• Ability to adapt quickly in a fast‑paced primary environment.
• Proactive, patient, and supportive attitude towards children.
