Learning Support Assistant – Secondary School

About the role

Prospero Teaching is seeking a passionate Learning Support Assistant to join an excellent secondary school in Sefton from September 2026. The role involves providing targeted support to students with additional needs and helping create an inclusive classroom environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑on‑one or small‑group assistance to students with additional needs, helping them engage with the curriculum.
• Assist the class teacher with classroom management, preparation of materials and implementation of lesson plans.
• Support behavioural management to maintain a positive learning atmosphere.
• Promote inclusion by ensuring every student feels valued and supported.
• Monitor student progress and help them achieve their learning goals.

Required profile

• Previous experience working with children.
• Experience supporting individuals with additional needs.
• Right to work in the UK.
• Enhanced DBS certificate (or willingness to obtain one) and registration with the online update service.
• Ability to provide two professional references covering the last 24 months.
