Learning Support Assistant – Secondary School (Shenfield)

About the role

We are partnering with a well‑regarded secondary school in Shenfield, Essex, rated GOOD by Ofsted. The school seeks a caring Learning Support Assistant to join its inclusive team and help students aged 11‑16 reach their full potential.

Key responsibilities

• Provide classroom support for Key Stages 3 and 4, working alongside teachers.
• Deliver one‑to‑one and small‑group interventions to boost engagement and progress.
• Support pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) to access the curriculum.
• Promote positive behaviour and maintain a safe, inclusive learning environment.
• Assist teachers in preparing and adapting classroom resources.
• Collaborate with the SEN department, pastoral team, and teaching staff.

Required profile

• Previous experience working with children or young people in education, youth work, care or support settings (desirable).
• Genuine passion for helping students achieve their potential.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patience, empathy and a proactive attitude.
• Ability to work effectively in a team and take initiative.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
