Learning Support Assistant – Secondary School (Waltham Forest)

About the role

The Learning Support Assistant will work within a mainstream secondary school in Waltham Forest, supporting pupils who face learning, disability or social‑emotional barriers. You will collaborate closely with teachers, the SENCO and other support staff to help students achieve their full potential.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one or small‑group assistance to pupils requiring additional support.
• Prepare and deliver differentiated learning materials under teacher guidance.
• Assist in managing classroom behaviour and promote positive social interaction.
• Monitor student progress and relay feedback to teachers and parents where appropriate.
• Encourage confidence, independence and engagement in learning activities.

Required profile

• Patient, empathetic and committed to supporting young learners.
• Ability to work collaboratively with teaching and support staff.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.

Required skills

• Basic knowledge of educational support strategies and differentiated instruction.
