Learning Support Assistant – Secondary Schools (East London)

About the role

Prospero Teaching is partnering with secondary schools in Newham, East London to recruit Learning Support Assistants for the September 2026 intake. You will work closely with pupils aged 11‑16, helping them achieve their full potential in a supportive and engaging learning environment. The schools are known for their inclusive ethos, creative curriculum and strong focus on emotional wellbeing, providing a safe space where every child can flourish. This role offers the chance to develop professionally while making a tangible difference to students’ lives.

Key responsibilities

• Provide 1‑to‑1 and small‑group support to pupils in Years 7‑11.
• Assist the class teacher in delivering a broad and balanced curriculum.
• Support children with additional needs, including those with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
• Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing.
• Collaborate with staff, parents and external professionals.

Required profile

• Patient, empathetic and enthusiastic attitude.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Willingness to obtain or hold a valid DBS check on the update service.
