Learning Support Assistant – SEMH (Secondary SEND School)

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join a well‑resourced secondary SEND school in Stockport. The role focuses on supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, helping them stay regulated and engaged during the school day.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group support for students with SEMH needs.
• Assist pupils during periods of deregulation, using calm and consistent strategies.
• Work flexibly across the specialist provision and the wider school as required.
• Promote emotional regulation, engagement and positive outcomes.

Required profile

• Passionate about supporting vulnerable young people.
• Resilient, patient and confident managing challenging behaviours.
• Flexible, quick‑thinking and able to adapt to changing situations.
• Strong team player with a proactive approach.
