About the role
Join a vibrant Further Education college in South East London as a Learning Support Assistant (SEN). You will work directly with young people and adults who have Special Educational Needs, helping them access learning programmes, develop independent study skills, and achieve their educational goals.
Key responsibilities
- Collaborate with teaching staff and support coordinators to ensure learners can access college services and activities.
- Support learners in meeting outcomes set out in their Education, Health & Care Plans (EHCPs) while fostering self‑advocacy.
- Provide personal care, supervision, and safety for students with physical, medical, or mobility needs.
- Identify potential barriers, develop proactive interventions, and contribute to person‑centred support plans and progress reviews.
- Act as a designated College First Aider and respond to any health emergencies.
- Maintain effective communication with internal teams, external agencies, parents, and key workers.
Required profile
- Minimum Level 2 qualification in Maths and English (or willingness to achieve).
- Willingness to obtain or hold a First Aid certificate.
- Passion for inclusive education and supporting learners with SEN.
