Learning Support Assistant (SEN) – Inclusive Education

About the role

We are seeking a caring and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant (SEN) to join the Inclusion Team at Upminster Secondary School. You will work closely with teachers and the SENCO to help students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) access the curriculum, build confidence, and reach their potential.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group support for SEND pupils during lessons and throughout the school day.
• Collaborate with teachers and the SENCO to deliver targeted interventions.
• Encourage positive behaviour, independence, and active engagement in learning.
• Monitor student progress and contribute to review meetings and individual education plans.
• Promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.

Required profile

• Experience working with children or young people (school experience desirable).
• Patient, reliable, and committed to supporting SEND students.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
