Learning Support Assistant – SEN (Primary School)

About the role

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join an inclusive primary school in Billinge from September 2026. The role supports pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) across the primary age range, working closely with teachers and the SENCO.

Key responsibilities

• Provide tailored one‑to‑one or small‑group support to help pupils access the curriculum and achieve individual targets.
• Collaborate with the class teacher and SENCO to plan and deliver appropriate interventions.
• Assist pupils in developing confidence, social skills and independence while managing challenging behaviours when needed.

Required profile

• Recent experience working with children in a UK primary school or a similar educational setting.
• Experience supporting pupils with SEND, including autism, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs or moderate learning difficulties.
• Confidence in managing additional needs and challenging behaviours.
• Patient, resilient and nurturing attitude with a genuine passion for helping children.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills, able to work with teachers, SENCO, parents and other professionals.
• Hold, or be willing to obtain, an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service.
