Learning Support Assistant – SEND Specialist (CM1)

About the role

We are looking for a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist SEND school in CM1 from September 2026. You will work closely with pupils who have complex needs, helping them access learning, develop independence, and achieve personal targets in a safe, supportive environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small‑group support to pupils with autism, severe and profound learning difficulties, communication challenges, sensory needs, and challenging behaviour.
• Assist with communication, emotional regulation, personal development and behaviour‑management strategies.
• Deliver sensory interventions and support personal care requirements where needed.
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists and other support staff to implement tailored learning programmes.
• Promote an inclusive, nurturing classroom atmosphere.
• Monitor, record and report pupil progress and achievements.

Required profile

• Previous experience supporting children or adults with complex SEND needs, autism, learning disabilities or challenging behaviour.
• Strong understanding of safeguarding and child‑protection procedures.
• Calm, patient, adaptable and able to work under pressure.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Genuine passion for supporting vulnerable young people.
• Enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service and right to work in the UK.
