Learning Support Assistant – Support for SEND Learners

About the role

Join a dedicated team in South East London as a Learning Support Assistant, providing high‑quality learning and accessibility support to young people and adults with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). You will help learners achieve their educational goals while fostering independence.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver person‑centred support to learners with complex needs, including severe learning difficulties.
• Enable learners to access programmes, college services and extracurricular activities.
• Support development of study skills and outcomes outlined in Educational Health & Care Plans (EHCPs).
• Work with individuals or small groups, adapting approaches to diverse needs.
• Assist with personal care or mobility needs, maintaining dignity and respect.

Required profile

• Strong literacy and numeracy abilities.
• Ability to build trust‑based relationships with learners, staff, parents/carers and professionals.
• Experience in a multicultural community and understanding of safeguarding and discrimination issues.
• Confidence in supporting personal care and mobility needs.
• Enhanced DBS check issued within the last three years.
