Learning Support Assistant – Support NEET Youth

About the role

We are looking for a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to work with 16‑19‑year‑old young people who are currently NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training) in Winsford. You will help re‑engage learners, build confidence and develop essential life and employability skills.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one and group learning support to learners aged 16‑19.
• Assist tutors with classroom activities and learning programmes.
• Encourage attendance, participation and positive behaviour.
• Act as a mentor and role model, building professional relationships with learners.
• Support development of confidence, resilience, communication and employability skills.
• Implement individual learning and support plans and monitor progress.
• Address social, emotional and wellbeing needs where appropriate.
• Maintain accurate records and contribute to safeguarding and welfare processes.
• Promote equality, diversity and inclusion within a positive learning culture.
• Collaborate with tutors, support staff and external agencies.

Required profile

• Experience supporting young people, preferably aged 16‑19.
• Passion for helping learners overcome barriers.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patience, empathy and resilience.
• Background in education, training, mentoring, youth work or a similar setting.
• Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities and vulnerable youth needs.
• Ability to motivate and inspire disengaged learners.
