About the role
The Learning Support Assistant (LSA) will work in a leading further education college in London, providing one‑to‑one and in‑class support for 16‑19 year‑old students who have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). The role focuses on helping learners access their studies, build confidence and develop greater independence.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver personalised support to students with moderate SEND needs such as ASC, ADHD, speech and language, and SEMH.
- Assist in adapting learning activities and resources alongside teaching staff.
- Support students in achieving GCSE English, GCSE Maths, functional skills and a range of vocational qualifications (ESOL, hairdressing, computing, beauty therapy, accounting, etc.).
- Monitor progress, record observations and contribute to individual learning plans.
- Promote inclusive classroom participation and encourage independent learning.
Required profile
- Experience working with young people or individuals with SEND.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patient, positive and proactive attitude.
- Strong English and Maths knowledge up to GCSE level.
