Learning Support Mentor (Ages 11-16) – Secondary School

About the role

We are partnering with a welcoming secondary school in Wirral to recruit a Learning Support Mentor for students aged 11‑16. This full‑time, term‑time position offers immediate start and provides a pathway for graduates, aspiring teachers, youth workers, or sports coaches to gain hands‑on experience in a school environment.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver one‑to‑one or small‑group support to pupils who need additional academic, social or emotional assistance.
• Collaborate with teachers and senior staff to develop personalised learning plans.
• Monitor progress and report outcomes to relevant stakeholders.
• Promote a positive, inclusive classroom atmosphere.
• Ensure safeguarding procedures are followed at all times.

Required profile

• Experience working with children or young people in any setting (schools, youth clubs, sports coaching, mentoring, care, community programmes).
• Patience, resilience and a positive attitude.
• Strong relationship‑building skills and ability to act as a role model.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Commitment to safeguarding and child welfare.
• Interest in education, SEND, psychology, youth work or teaching careers.
