Learning Support Mentor

About the role

Prospero Teaching is looking for dedicated Learning Support Mentors to work in its specialist SEN transition centre in Fareham. The centre supports 14‑19‑year‑olds with SEM‑EM and autism, helping them move into further education, apprenticeships or employment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide calm, composed behaviour support in challenging situations.
• Manage behaviour while creating a positive, engaging learning environment.
• Motivate young people to participate, build confidence and promote independence.
• Support personal development and facilitate transitions to education, training or work.

Required profile

• Experience supporting young people with autism and/or SEM‑EM needs.
• Caring, patient, excellent communicator with a reflective attitude.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and take initiative.

Required skills

• Strong behaviour management techniques.
• Motivational and supportive communication.
