About the role
Bath Spa U Ltd is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in English for Academic Purposes (EAP) to join the English Language Unit. The postholder will deliver high-quality English language teaching, support curriculum development, assessment and quality assurance, and contribute to the university’s academic language strategy.
Key responsibilities
- Produce valid, reliable assessment materials and test items for admissions.
- Support moderation, standardisation and quality-assurance activities.
- Plan and deliver engaging, student-centred EAP and English language programmes.
- Provide individual and small-group tutorials to develop language and academic skills.
- Assess students through formative and summative methods and give timely feedback.
- Monitor progress and identify learners needing additional support.
- Contribute to the design, review and evaluation of EAP curricula and resources.
- Develop discipline-specific academic language activities and resources.
- Collaborate with academic schools, professional services, admissions and external partners.
- Support the university’s internationalisation agenda and quality-enhancement initiatives.
Required profile
- A recognised undergraduate degree or equivalent.
- DELTA, DipTESOL or a closely related English language teaching qualification.
- Minimum two years of higher-education EAP teaching experience.
- Experience assessing English language proficiency.
- Desirable: Master’s degree in Applied Linguistics, TESOL or related field.
- Desirable: Fellowship of Advance HE or PGCHE (or willingness to complete).
- Desirable: Experience developing English language assessments and working collaboratively with academic departments.
