Lecturer in Sports & Uniformed Protective Services

About the role

We are seeking an enthusiastic Lecturer in Sport and Uniformed Protective Services to join the Sport and UPS department at Bournemouth & Poole College. The role involves delivering high‑quality teaching to learners from Level 1 to Level 3 across sport, fitness, coaching and protective‑services programmes, and contributing to curriculum development.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging lessons, assessments and practical sessions using a variety of delivery methods.
• Provide academic and pastoral support, acting as Personal Tutor where required.
• Prepare learning materials, mark work and give constructive feedback.
• Develop and maintain curriculum, ensuring compliance with awarding bodies and regulatory standards.
• Maintain accurate records of attendance, progress and achievement.
• Support work placements and build links with employers and external partners.
• Participate in college events, employer engagement and school liaison activities.
• Engage in continuous professional development, appraisals and teaching observations.

Required profile

• Relevant experience in sport, fitness, coaching, or uniformed protective services.
• Ability to deliver inclusive, learner‑centred teaching.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to manage records and assessment data.
• Commitment to safeguarding, equality and health & safety standards.
