Lecturer – Supported Internships (Full‑time, Band 7)

About the role

The Northumberland Skills Service, part of Northumberland County Council, is seeking a full‑time Lecturer to deliver supported internship programmes. Based at the Alnwick Campus, the role runs throughout term time and includes five days of teaching during school holidays.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging teaching sessions, incorporating e‑learning and other innovative methods.
• Provide personalised learning support, adapting strategies to meet individual learner needs.
• Design and implement assessment procedures, monitoring both formative and summative progress.
• Conduct regular progress reviews with learners and, where appropriate, with employers.
• Prepare learners for examinations, certifications and workplace assessments.
• Contribute to internal and external quality assurance activities, including standardisation meetings.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in teaching or training within further education, apprenticeships or supported internship settings.
• Ability to tailor learning approaches to diverse learner groups.
• Strong organisational skills and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Required skills

• Proficiency with e‑learning platforms and digital assessment tools.
• Effective use of learning management systems for tracking progress.
