Legal Advisor – Contracts

About the role

WSP is seeking an experienced solicitor to join its in‑house legal team in the UK. You will work closely with business units to support growth while managing legal and commercial risk across construction and engineering projects.

Key responsibilities

• Provide timely, commercially focused legal advice and embed contractual risk‑management practices.
• Review, negotiate and draft a wide range of contractual documents, including consultancy agreements, project contracts, joint‑venture, framework and sub‑consultancy agreements.
• Support corporate governance for contract approvals, bid processes and tender documentation.
• Advise project and bid teams on legal matters throughout project delivery.
• Keep the business updated on relevant legal developments and deliver legal training.
• Contribute to the legal team’s knowledge base and collaborate in a supportive environment.

Required profile

• Qualified solicitor in England & Wales with post‑qualification experience in contractual matters.
• Experience within the engineering, construction or advisory sector, preferably in‑house at an engineering consultancy or contractor.
• Familiarity with standard form contracts and complex contracting arrangements.
• Degree‑level education or equivalent.
