Legal Counsel – Litigation (Financial Services)

About the role

This is a hands‑on Legal Counsel position within a fast‑growing consumer lender based in London. You will be the first qualified lawyer dedicated to financial‑services disputes, managing a range of litigation matters from debt recovery to fraud claims.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and defend claims related to debt recovery, Section 75, and fraud disputes.
• Oversee the paralegal function and supervise junior staff.
• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to resolve legal issues.
• Utilise AI‑driven tools for claims processing where applicable.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years post‑qualification experience (PQE) in England and Wales.
• Qualified solicitor (barristers also considered) with proven experience in financial‑services disputes, especially debt recovery and consumer credit.
• Current experience within a lender, consumer‑credit business, or financial‑services organisation.
• Experience supervising junior staff and working with cross‑functional stakeholders.
• Familiarity with AI‑driven claims processes is advantageous.
