Legal Counsel – Risk Capital

About the role

Aon is seeking a qualified Legal Counsel to join its UK legal team, focusing on Risk Capital and Reinsurance matters. The role combines commercial legal advice with strategic support for Aon's Reinsurance businesses, operating in a hybrid work model.

Key responsibilities

• Provide clear, commercially‑focused legal advice to Aon's Reinsurance businesses.
• Review and advise on client and reinsurer contracts, ensuring compliance and sustainability.
• Identify, assess and manage legal risks, escalating issues when necessary.
• Collaborate with colleagues in the UK, Poland and India to align legal, compliance and risk support.
• Build trusted relationships across the business while maintaining high service standards.
• Contribute to process‑improvement projects, risk‑mitigation initiatives and legal policy development.
• Support Aon's pro‑bono and CSR activities, promoting community engagement.

Required profile

• Qualified solicitor or barrister (UK/Ireland) or foreign‑qualified lawyer.
• Experience in financial services, insurance or other FCA‑regulated environments.
• Experience in reinsurance is beneficial but not mandatory.
• Collaborative, solutions‑focused approach to legal problem‑solving.
• Strong communication skills and ability to engage with diverse teams and stakeholders.
• Tenacity and a proactive attitude.
