Legal Director - Construction and Development

About the role

An exciting opportunity to join a well‑established UK property and infrastructure organisation as Legal Director – Construction and Development. The role provides senior legal leadership across complex construction, development and commercial matters, influencing project delivery at a strategic level.

Key responsibilities

• Provide clear, commercially focused legal advice on construction, development and contractual matters.
• Draft, review and negotiate construction and project‑related agreements, including professional appointments and ancillary documentation.
• Support structuring and execution of complex development arrangements involving multiple stakeholders.
• Lead negotiations with contractors, consultants and external counterparties.
• Ensure consistency and compliance across all project documentation and underlying agreements.
• Advise on legal risk and regulatory developments affecting projects.
• Collaborate with internal commercial, technical and delivery teams.
• Liaise with external legal advisers to support transaction delivery.

Required profile

• Qualified UK Solicitor with at least 5 years post‑qualification experience.
• Strong background in construction law, real estate development or related project‑based legal work.
• Proven ability to negotiate and draft complex commercial contracts.
• Effective stakeholder management with a pragmatic, solutions‑focused approach.
• Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, delivery‑focused environment.
