Legal Manager - Employment

About the role

We are partnering with a leading international law firm to appoint a Legal Manager – Employment in Birmingham. The role combines a hands‑on Employment Tribunal caseload with leadership of a specialist team, focusing on delivering high‑quality, efficient tribunal work rather than billable hours.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of Employment Tribunal matters from pleadings through to hearings.
• Serve as the escalation point for complex or high‑stakes tribunal cases.
• Lead, supervise and develop a team of employment lawyers and paralegals.
• Act as the primary liaison between internal Employment teams and client stakeholders.
• Design and implement smarter processes, playbooks and workflows.
• Integrate legal technology and AI tools into daily practice to improve delivery.
• Monitor quality, consistency and turnaround times.
• Support team growth through recruitment, onboarding and development.

Required profile

• UK‑qualified solicitor with 7+ years PQE in Employment Law.
• Proven experience running Employment Tribunal litigation, preferably at volume.
• Experience supervising or mentoring junior lawyers or paralegals.
• Confidence in managing client and stakeholder relationships.
• Interest in or experience with legal technology and AI‑enabled tools.
• Collaborative, organised and problem‑solving mindset.
