Legal Receptionist (Part‑time)

About the role

We are looking for a part‑time Receptionist to join a specialist criminal‑defence practice in Birmingham. The role is permanent, offering a pro‑rated salary of around £30,000 per year and three days of office‑based work each week.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the first point of contact for clients, visitors and callers, creating a professional and welcoming impression.
• Maintain an organised reception area and manage incoming telephone calls, directing enquiries to the appropriate staff.
• Serve as a central hub for general office and visitor enquiries.
• Provide administrative support to colleagues, including document handling and basic office tasks.
• Assist with day‑to‑day office administration to ensure smooth operation of the team.

Required profile

• Proven experience working as a Receptionist, preferably within a professional services or legal environment.
• Confident, approachable and able to manage competing demands while remaining calm and professional.
• Excellent organisational skills and strong attention to detail.
• Proactive attitude with good judgement and the ability to work independently.

Required skills

• Competence with office systems and general business software (e.g., Microsoft Office).
• Experience using a telephone call handling system.
