Legal Team Assistant – Private Client

About the role

We are seeking a proactive Legal Team Assistant to support our busy private client team in Bedford. You will act as the first point of contact for clients, ensuring smooth administrative processes that allow solicitors to focus on delivering high‑quality legal advice.

Key responsibilities

• Handle client liaison via phone, email and face‑to‑face meetings.
• Take new enquiries using the standard form and coordinate with paralegals and trainees.
• Allocate scanned post, notify fee earners of incoming communications, and manage outgoing paper‑based post.
• Maintain accurate filing, archiving and document release processes.
• Provide regular updates to fee earners on task progress and manage expectations.
• Oversee extensive diary and inbox management for senior staff.
• Liaise with office administrators, typists and senior management to ensure seamless communication.
• Ensure compliance with Solicitors Accounts Rules and other regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• Previous legal experience; private client exposure is a plus but not mandatory.
• Strong organisational and administrative abilities.
• Excellent telephone etiquette and communication skills.
• Team‑player attitude with a willingness to take ownership of tasks.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
